Underscore is a genre-bending, genre-blending musical and literary salon, blurring the lines between music and storytelling.

Writers read their works accompanied by live original musical performances.

Poet, comedian and ABC radio personalities Brian Nankervis and Jane Clifton present their words to a changing moving soundtrack.

Brian Nankervis is a Melbourne writer, actor, radio host, television producer and comedian. He is the well known radio personality on ABC Radio’s Friday Review and founder and presenter of SBS TV's Rockwiz.

Jane Clifton is the genuine show-business all-rounder. Actress, singer, writer, poet, painter and registered civil celebrant. Jane has managed to carve out a 5 decade-long, showbusiness career. She has published three crime novels and an anthology of poetry.

The Idiomatics bring their rich musical provenance to the performance, from respective backgrounds with ARIA-winning Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Texicali Rose, Yothu Yindi and The Black Sorrows.
