These one-day workshops are designed for complete beginners to botanical drawing.

Each workshop is a standalone day.

Tuesday 15 September 10am - 3.30pm or Wednesday 16 September 10am - 3.30pm

The focus will be on observational drawing using graphite pencils to create realistic renderings of botanical subjects. You will explore tone and form; experiment with different mark-making techniques; and learn how basic geometric shapes can be identified in nature and translated into your drawings.

The workshop is presented in a friendly and supportive environment, with plenty of individual guidance throughout the day.

Over the last 10 years, Amanda has conducted regular botanical art classes at the Geelong Botanic Gardens and the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Amanda draws on the tradition of botanical illustration in terms of observation and documentation and works in graphite, coloured pencil and watercolour with a strong focus on drawing as the basis of her art and teaching practices.

The day includes morning tea and lunch and materials including a magnifying glass and workbook to take home.

Attendance fee: $120
