Fine Blue Thread is an exciting collaboration of three creative musicians from three very different musical worlds. This distinctly Melbourne trio plays finely crafted, fresh and intriguing compositions that are grounded in the traditions of Indian, Javanese and Persian music.

The music of Fine Blue Thread is moody, open, sweet and surprising - generating a distinctive modern Melbourne sound.

Sam is a composer and is the founder of the Melbourne Tabla School and the first Australian to hold a Ph.D in Tabla.

Reza Kashi is a gifted Persian multi-instrumentalist whose sound is rooted in the rich traditions of the tar, setar, and oud. Together they make a wonderful blend of contemporary Australian World Music.

Since their sold-out debut performance at the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2009, Fine Blue Thread have been surprising audiences throughout Australia with performances of their own original music that is sometimes haunting, uplifting and breathtakingly intimate.
