Enjoy a special event in Beleura’s gardens to mark Valentine’s Day with guest singers Emily Szabo and Asher Reichman from the Melbourne Opera performing a selection of arias.

Emily Szabo - Soprano

Emily Szabo is a lyric soprano, and an emerging artist with Melbourne Opera’s Richard Divall Program. Emily has performed numerous principal operatic roles and recently sang Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme, Sister Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s the Marriage of Figaro all presented by Melbourne Opera.

Emily sang her first Messiah as guest soprano with the Essendon Choral Society in 2023 and was a finalist in the prestigious Herald Sun Aria Final receiving the Richard Divall award (2022).

Asher Reichman - Tenor

Tenor Asher Reichman has performed with Melbourne Opera and Opera Australia. Recent highlights include roles in The Marriage of Figaro (Melbourne Opera), Breaking the Waves (Opera Australia), La Bohème (Melbourne Opera), and Rothschild’s Violin (IOpera). He has also performed as a soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Asher joined the Richard Divall Program in 2023.  He was a Fellow of the Opernfest Prague in 2019, the Ambassadorial Scholarship winner of The Acclaim Awards in 2022 and was overall winner of The Acclaim Awards in 2024. Most recently he was winner of the 2024 Herald Sun Aria Richard Divall award.

Raymond Lawrence - Head of Music and Accompanist.

Raymond is Head of Music and Chorus Master at Melbourne Opera and is one of Australia’s most highly regarded vocal coaches, accompanists, and opera conductors.

Most recently, Raymond has conducted a highly successful season of Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda for Melbourne Opera. He has also conducted performances of Macbeth, Anna Bolena, Roberto Devereux, Lucrezia Borgia, Rossini’s Otello, The Barber of Seville, La Traviata, Pearl Fishers, The Abduction of Seraglio, HMS Pinafore, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme and Suor Angelica. 

As Head of Music and Chorus Master Raymond coached and prepared Wagner’s Des Ring des Nibelungen, Der fliegende Holländer, Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin, Rienzi and Beethoven’s Fidelio. In addition, he was Music Director for Opera Australia’s Victorian Schools Company and Stonnington Opera in the Park.

This program will be held outdoors in Beleura's Palm Garden but will be moved into the Pavilion if the weather is unsuitable.
